HOW TO HEAD NORTH
After spending several days in Bangkok, it was time to think about heading to my next destination. The most obvious options available to me were to head North towards the countryside and hills of Chiang Mai, or to head South to explore the islands of Thailand.
Having spoken to other travellers about the two options, I’d been made aware that the South of the region had been dealing with some pretty bad flooding, so it made sense to give that a miss for now.
Even though I was choosing to defer my visit down South, this didn’t prevent me from dusting off the dice, however. I’d made my mind up on heading North, but how should I go about it?
Although, I’d decided that I was heading up towards Chiang Mai, I wasn’t sure whether to head straight there, or head there more gradually and make stop offs in towns on the way there. I put this to the dice:
Have you guys had any experience of trekking up to Chiang Mai, or visiting Ayutthaya? Any suggestions for things I should roll the dice on?
Please post comments and I’ll see whether I can incorporate any of these!
Ciao!
